In a world where health advice is often driven by extreme trends and quick-fix fads, this centuries-old healing system from India asks women to slow down, reconsider, and realign with the rhythm of nature.
Ayurveda, a medical system with roots in the Indian sub-continent, offers an intuitive approach to wellness and nutrition that people around the world have practiced and refined for over 5,000 years. By tuning into their unique constitutions, women can establish a personalized path to health that doesn’t rely on fleeting trends or restrictive routines. Here are some ways to start living according to Ayurvedic tradition right away:
Eat in Alignment with the Sun
According to Ayurveda, when the sun is at its strongest, so is the digestive system. This means that midday is the best time to eat, while meals eaten early morning and night should be lighter.
Eat According to the Seasons
Each season has its own unique attributes, and as such, requires a different diet. By exploring these different attributes, women can align their bodies to nature more wholly.
Follow the 48-minute Rule
Ayurveda says that eating regularly is the key to healthy digestion and radiant health. By eating close to the same time every day (within a 48-minute window), the body adapts to a consistent schedule.
By following these simple guidelines, the science of Ayurveda teaches that all women can regulate their hormones and find true balance — instead of struggling with restrictive lifestyle choices that can cause their bodies more harm than good.
This is just one of the topics presented during Ayurveda Week, a live four-day online program that invited women to explore natural, practical tools for restoring balance, nurturing health, and connecting more deeply with their bodies.
Ayurveda Week equipped participants with the knowledge to make mindful choices that sustain rather than deplete. At a time when wellness culture often overlooks the natural cycles of women’s bodies, the teachings of Ayurveda stand as a refreshing reminder that health can be achieved without sacrificing well-being.
Held from November 18th to 21st, 2024, hundreds of women joined Womben Wellness to explore a comprehensive approach tailored to address common challenges faced by women today, like painful periods, hormonal fluctuations, digestive issues, and stress-induced burnout.
With more women seeking alternatives to intense, unsustainable lifestyles, Ayurveda Week offered a fresh perspective: True health lies in honoring one’s unique constitution and incorporating everyday rituals that sustain the body and mind. Through guided teachings, Ayurvedic expert Usha Anandi led participants in discovering accessible, time-honored techniques for building vitality and resilience without harsh measures or unrealistic demands.
A Schedule Rooted in Tradition and Accessibility
Each day of Ayurveda Week focused on a specific area of wellness, building a foundation of practices participants can carry forward long after the event concludes.
– Day 1: Lifestyle Rituals for Vitality – The week opened with a dive into daily Ayurvedic rituals that help women shift away from high-stress wellness practices toward a sustainable approach. Emphasis was placed on nourishing rather than depleting the body, with practical insights on balancing energy and mood.
– Day 2: Eating for Balance and Digestive Health – This session introduced Ayurvedic principles for eating according to one’s dosha, or constitutional type. Participants learned how to listen to the body’s cues, why overly restrictive diets are counterproductive, and how balanced digestion supports both physical and emotional well-being.
– Day 3: Medicine-Making from Nature’s Bounty – Ayurveda views nature as an essential partner in healing, and in this hands-on session, Anandi taught participants how to incorporate herbs into their self-care routines. From teas to topical treatments, these remedies offer gentle support for symptoms that may otherwise disrupt daily life.
– Day 4: Cook-Along and Q&A – The final day combined a cooking demonstration with an open Q&A. Usha guided participants through the preparation of an Ayurvedic breakfast while fielding questions from the group. This interactive session not only provided a nourishing recipe, but also opened a space for deeper connection and discussion.
Through Ayurveda Week, women had the opportunity to embrace a path to health that is both empowering and deeply restorative. By focusing on rituals that support balance and well-being, participants could choose to shift away from practices that exhaust or undermine the body’s natural intelligence. Designed to be accessible for beginners and experienced practitioners alike, Ayurveda Week offered a welcoming environment to learn, heal, and reconnect with a community of women seeking similar goals.
For those interested in joining a longer iteration of Ayurveda Week, Womben Wellness is offering an invitation to Wise Womban Way, an annual mentorship with access to pre-recorded lessons, monthly live classes and session replays. All classes are available as a self-paced online course, inviting women from around the world to learn and connect with like-minded individuals.
