The documentary “Tan Kah Kee” was broadcast

2024 marked the 150th anniversary of Tan Kah Kee’s birth. Recently, the 4-episode documentary “Tan Kah Kee” jointly produced by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and Chiyu Bank, supported by Xiamen International Bank and filmed by Haiwainet was broadcast on media platforms such as the WeChat official account of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and the client of the overseas edition of People’s Daily.

This documentary looks back at and pays tribute to the life deeds of Tan Kah Kee, a patriotic overseas Chinese leader. With rich and accurate historical materials, touching historical stories and a profound patriotic theme, through four carefully arranged chapters, namely “Investing Heavily in School Establishment”, “The Banner of Overseas Chinese”, “The Glory of the Nation” and “Solidarity and Progress”, it vividly shows Tan Kah Kee’s glorious and great life as a patriotic overseas Chinese leader, an outstanding educator and a famous social activist. The documentary closely combines Tan Kah Kee’s vivid deeds with the background of the times and fully demonstrates the profound theme and spiritual connotation of the overseas Chinese group holding high the flag of patriotism.

Wan Lijun, the president of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, said that the older generation of overseas Chinese represented by Tan Kah Kee had made indelible contributions to national independence and national prosperity. The sacrifices and contributions of the vast majority of overseas Chinese will not be forgotten by history, the motherland and the people. All levels of the federation of returned overseas Chinese and the vast number of cadres of the federation of returned overseas Chinese should unite and lead the vast number of returned overseas Chinese and their relatives and overseas Chinese to carry forward the “Tan Kah Kee Spirit” in the new era, actively participate in the construction of Chinese modernization, and strive in unity with the people of the motherland (country of origin) to write a new chapter in the overseas Chinese community on the new journey of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

The filming team of the documentary “Tan Kah Kee” spent one year shooting in Fujian, Guangdong, Yunnan, Shaanxi, Beijing and other places. Following the glorious footsteps of Tan Kah Kee, it emotionally tells the patriotism and Chinese feelings that run through his life.
