Ethan Bortnick Returns with Brand New Single "violet"
His First Independent Release in Over Three Years, Out April 11

LOS ANGELES, CA – With over 150 million global streams and more than 6 million followers across platforms, Ethan returns with his most daring and sonically evolved work to date. On April 11, the genre-defying artist drops “violet,” his first single in over a year — and his first release ever without piano.

Marking a new era of independence, “violet” is Ethan’s first self-released track since 2021. The single kicks off a bold five-song collection that showcases his transition into a more experimental and guitar forward soundscape. While fans have come to know Ethan for his virtuosic piano performances and classical melodies, “violet” does a complete 180 — spacey vocals and midwest emo riffs take center stage.

Ethan is currently on the road as direct support on the BoyWithUke 2024 U.S. Tour, playing “violet” live at 30 shows in venues ranging from 1,500 to 6,000 capacity across the country. The new material has already sparked massive buzz among concertgoers and on social media, where Ethan continues to connect through live performance clips.

Following “violet,” fans can expect the second single in May: “isn’t it great?” — a hard-hitting, politically charged, shoegaze-influenced track that expands Ethan’s sonic world even further.

With extensive press coverage and a layered social rollout accompanying each release, Ethan is finally back in action this year.

“violet” drops April 11 on all streaming platforms.

About Ethan Bortnick

Growing up in Hollywood, Florida, Ethan’s musical journey began at an astonishingly young age. Possessing perfect pitch, he taught himself to play Mozart on a keyboard at just three years old. His talents as a composer and performer quickly propelled him to global recognition, with appearances on renowned television shows like Oprah and The Tonight Show and headlining his own national PBS-televised concert series. Making history at nine years old with a Guinness World Record as “the youngest-ever person to headline a solo concert tour,” Ethan captivated audiences with over 1,000 headlined shows until the pandemic. In 2020, Ethan shifted gears and began to take his classical music roots and inject them into his first contemporary releases. The momentum soared in 2021 with the explosive success of “cut my fingers off,” amassing 38 million Spotify streams to date. The following year, “engravings” continued the trend, accumulating 78 million Spotify streams to date and counting, garnering Ethan staggering social media engagement and followers. The years 2023 and 2024 saw Bortnick take his new music back to live performance, playing sold-out headlined shows and some festivals around the U.S. and Europe in support of his major-label EP release. Looking ahead to 2025 and beyond, Ethan is honing an artistic vision aimed at bringing classical music to the mainstream in a bold new way.
