Wolfie’s Wish Pet Loss Podcast Marks Anniversary of Providing Support to Grieving Pet Owners

Podcast offers expert insights, heartfelt stories, and a growing community for those navigating pet loss.

Wolfie’s Wish Pet Loss Podcast is celebrating its first anniversary, marking a year of providing compassionate support, expert insights, and community for grieving pet owners.

Since its launch in February 2024, host Erica Messer has led candid discussions on pet grief, featuring veterinarians, bereavement specialists, and pet parents who share their personal experiences.

As nearly 70% of U.S. households own a pet, the emotional impact of losing a pet remains a significant yet often overlooked issue. Research indicates that 85% of pet guardians report grief symptoms comparable to losing a family member, with a third continuing to grieve at six months and almost a quarter still grieving after a year.

“Pet grief is real, and many people feel isolated in their pain,” Messer said. “This podcast has been a place where pet parents can find understanding, guidance, and community.”

“Each conversation has reinforced just how deeply people feel the loss of a pet,” Messer said. “Listeners tell us they feel seen, heard, and supported, and that’s exactly why I started this podcast.”

Beyond the Podcast: A Broader Movement for Pet Grief Awareness

Wolfie’s Wish has expanded its outreach beyond the podcast, offering:

• A private online support group for grieving pet parents

• Free virtual pet loss support sessions led by grief counselors

• Pet loss grieving cards, self-help books, and guided journals

• A YouTube channel featuring expert interviews, music therapy, and guided meditations

“Pet loss grief deserves acknowledgment and support, just like any other type of loss,” Messer said. “We’re working to change the conversation and provide tangible resources for those who need them.”
