New 3D Lightshow Will Tell the True Story of Texas Revolution in Gonzales
3D Mapping Projection on The Memorial Museum Adds New Tourist Attraction That Teaches Visitors About the Battle of Gonzales.

Gonzales, TX, USA – March 21, 2025 – A new state-of-the-art 3D presentation has just been approved by the Gonzales City Council on March thirteenth that will revolutionize tourism in central Texas. The project, currently under the working title of, “Texas Legacy in Lights” will provide onlookers with a twenty-four-minute presentation of the rich history of the city of Gonzales and educate viewers with an accurate depiction of the role Gonzales played in the Texas Revolution.

The story will be told with a complex new projection called 3D mapping which is rarely seen in the United States due to the complexity of its execution. Most Americans have only seen this quality of visualization at Disney, but it will now be offered in the small town of Gonzales.

Texas Legacy in Lights will be presented on the front of the Gonzales Memorial Museum and viewers will watch a thirty-two-foot by ninety-six-foot, three-dimensional projection of the city’s history all in augmented reality. Using cutting-edge 3D projection mapping, technology typically reserved for world-class shows like Disney’s EPCOT, this immersive light show will transport visitors back to 1835, when a small group of Texan settlers took their stand against the Mexican army and sparked a revolution.

Projection on Gonzales Memorial Museum

Many tourists visit Gonzales and are unaware that it is where the Texas Revolution truly began. The lives that were lost from the brave men of Gonzales must continue to be told but are often overlooked by the popularity of other historical Texas battles. This overshadowing of the great history of Gonzales has been a frustration of residents for nearly two hundred years and is the driving passion of this new project.

Gonzales will be just the fifth city in United States history to host a 3D mapping display and will be seen twice a night for six nights each week. This project will attract new tourists and new money to the area, all while educating visitors about the city’s historical accomplishments.

Spearheaded by Texas native and industry expert John Franklin Rinehart, whose company, Austin Film Crew, has worked on projects for global brands such as Dell, Payless, Bose, Walmart, and many others, this project promises to blend Hollywood-quality visuals and cutting-edge technology with the heart of Texas history.

John Franklin Rinehart

“I am a proud Texan and have always boasted about the great city that I was raised in.” says Rinehart. “Gonzales, Texas has a legacy like no other city in our country and I want to make locals as proud as I am to share it with whomever will listen. My ancestors fought in the Battle of Gonzales, and I want their legacy to live on long after me. This project is a great way to inform people that men gave their lives so they can freely stand there in our great country.”

The presentation also comes with a tremendous sound show that was designed by one of the former media engineers for NASA. It will cover ninety thousand square feet of space with speakers and subwoofers buried in the ground and covered with plants so you can truly feel the battle reenactments. Texas Legacy In Lights is slated for soft launch this July with a grand opening scheduled on October 2, 2025. This bold initiative is gaining support from public figures, local businesses, and historical organizations across the United States.
