Houston resident John Wann, who is experiencing a string of major medical setbacks, has started a sincere appeal on GoFundMe asking the community to assist in lessening the financial load brought on by high medical costs. Seeking support to pay back more than $27,000 in high-interest credit card debt accumulated following many vital operations between 2023 and 2024, the campaign, “John’s Plea: Help Him Heal & Protect His Family’s Future,” seeks.
John Wann, age 64, has battled an array of debilitating health conditions since age 19, including traumatic brain injury, PTSD, convulsions, and over 20 throat surgeries. In the last two years, his medical challenges intensified dramatically, with a severe shoulder injury requiring a reverse shoulder replacement, followed by significant knee surgery. These procedures involved extensive medical teams, including orthopedic surgeons, neurologists, cardiologists, psychologists, internal medicine specialists, and physical therapists.
“I’ve always been a fighter, learning to walk again twice and overcoming numerous health crises since I was a young man,” says John. “But these recent setbacks have placed my family under incredible financial strain.”
John’s family has extreme credit card debt, costing them over $1,000 monthly alone. Healthcare bills are growing, and income is restricted due to the inability to get Social Security Disability benefits. Since age 19, John’s health issues have persisted, involving more than 20 throat surgeries and major trauma, including traumatic brain injuries and PTSD.
Based in Houston, Texas, John Wann now looks to the kindness and charity of friends, neighbors, and community members to offer financial help, therefore freeing him to concentrate on healing and securing the future of his family. His message resonates clearly: even a small contribution can make an immense impact.
“If everyone who sees this donates even $20, we could begin reclaiming our lives from this debt,” John says in his campaign. “Every little bit helps and gives us hope during an extremely tough time.”
