This initiative aims to enhance warehouse safety and operational efficiency by assisting businesses in adhering to health and safety regulations.
Pallet Racking Inspection Services
Regular inspection of pallet racking systems is essential to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of warehouse personnel. In the UK, such equipment falls under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER), necessitating routine evaluations. The Health and Safety Executive’s guide to Warehousing and Storage Systems (HSG76) also emphasises the importance of these inspections.
Dexion Anglia conducts inspections in line with Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) guidelines, employing a traffic light system to categorise damage:
Green Risk: Damage within SEMA limits; monitoring recommended.
Amber Risk: Damage exceeding SEMA limits; affected areas should be unloaded, with repairs completed within four weeks to prevent escalation to Red Risk.
Red Risk: Immediate offloading and isolation required until repairs are finalised.
Rack Awareness Training Programmes
To complement inspection services, Dexion Anglia offers Rack Awareness Training courses adhering to SEMA guidelines. Conducted by a SEMA Approved Rack Inspector with over 33 years of experience, these courses cover:
Safety statistics and legal requirements, Terminology of racking components, Key inspection points, Load notices, Rack stability and protection, Damage assessment.
The one-day sessions, held at Dexion Anglia’s King’s Lynn premises, include a warehouse visit to examine a damaged rack and address questions. Participants must pass a written test with a minimum score of 80% to receive a certificate valid for 36 months.
