Golden Bullseye America’s 1st Freedom Award Goes to John Annoni

January 15 22:42 2025

Allentown, PA – January 15, 2025 – John Annoni, founder of Camp Compass academy and Hunting Awareness, has been chosen as the recipient of America’s 1st Freedom 2025 Freedom Award. This is part of NRA Media’s Golden Bullseye Awards. The award recognizes those who have distinguished themselves as standout defenders of our Second Amendment freedom in business, politics, and/or American culture. “These awards have become the most prestigious in the entire firearm industry,” said Deputy Executive Director of NRA Publications Michael J. Sanford.

“I never dreamt I would be recognized in this manner,” said John. “After all of the years of grinding, it’s very rewarding to be chosen for the work that has been done. It speaks volumes to the NRA looking at bottom to top efforts in America.”

This year’s invitation-only award ceremony will be held at the 2025 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Atlanta, Georgia on Friday, April 25, 2025. Recipients of this award are defenders of our right to keep and bear arms, whether in the political arena, in Hollywood, in the media, or in business. These defenders do their work in such a positive way that they are instrumental in enhancing and, therefore, saving this precious freedom for future generations. It is to commend them for all they do and have done for our freedom.

“I first contacted John for a feature for America’s 1st Freedom. After that series of conversations, I went to Allentown to see the afterschool program he founded in 1994 called Camp Compass Academy,” said Frank Miniter, America’s 1st Freedom’s Editor in Chief. “I ended up in a series of meetings with young adults who all told me the same thing: that if it wasn’t for John’s Camp Compass they’d probably be dead or in jail like so many of their childhood friends. Decades of work makes John an obvious choice for this honor.”
