On the evening of December 17, 2024, the Changchun Ice and Snow New World, which spans an area of 1.56 million square meters, was illuminated with a dazzling array of lights. The vibrant ice and snow sculptures attracted their first group of visitors. This marked the beginning of a new wave of excitement for Changchun’s 2024 – 2025 snow season.
With an increasing number of foreign tourists visiting Changchun for sightseeing, during the snow season, Changchun has rolled out major initiatives to refresh and upgrade multiple service scenarios. This is aimed at creating an “international-style” travel environment for foreign friends, thereby further enhancing the travel experience of international visitors.
Changchun Ice and Snow New World, though only six years old, has shone brightly since its establishment in Changchun. It has emerged as a signature landmark of Changchun’s ice and snow landscape, and it plays a crucial role in promoting and showcasing the city to the world.

In fact, Changchun’s new snow season this year had already begun before the Ice and Snow New World was completed. Across various urban districts such as Nanguan, Chaoyang, and Jingyue High-tech Zone, a wide variety of ice and snow parks and cultural tourism projects, each with its own unique theme and format, have already been set up and are ready to welcome visitors.
In the historic Nanguan District, the “Ten Thousand Meter Ice River Heading North” ice and snow themed project has been launched. With the Yitong River as the central axis, a range of ice and snow attractions such as the Blue Ice Diamond Sea, Frozen Roses, and Snow Country Train have been unveiled at key spots like Shadow Island, Changchun Industrial Track Park, and Nanxi Wetland Park.
On December 31, 2024, the Nanxi Li Cultural Tourism Town hosted the “A Path of Ginseng Flowers” New Year’s Eve Music Carnival. Many stars, including Jilin-born singer Jin Runji, joined the visitors to celebrate the New Year together.
In line with Changchun’s overall deployment for creating ice and snow landscapes characterized by “one main area, two new spots, four venues, ten parks, and multiple points” Chaoyang District has adopted a unique perspective that combines ice and snow with history. This approach highlights the distinctive charm of Xinmin Street, a renowned historical and cultural street in China. The newly crafted cultural ice and snow scene on Xinmin Street displays the icy allure of the Northern Spring City and the city’s tolerant and magnanimous temperament through vividly themed ice sculptures, enhanced by a kaleidoscope of colorful lights.
The grand and enchanting ice and snow natural landscapes serve as a vital window for Changchun City to display its icy allure and elevate its international profile. Changchun Longjia International Airport, acting as another key portal for external publicity, has undertaken a range of initiatives centered around “how to better serve foreign travelers.” Within the airport, dining establishments have launched new trilingual menus featuring Chinese, English, and Korean, garnering extensive acclaim from passengers both from China and abroad.
In anticipation of welcoming guests from all directions, Changchun has been thoroughly prepared. At the inaugural press conference for Changchun’s 2024-2025 snow season under the theme “Spring City of the North, Snowy Wonderland,” Vice Mayor Zhao Xian extolled the city’s icy beauty with the features of “inclusiveness, openness, warmth, and romance,” extending an invitation to visitors worldwide to experience the enchanting ice and snow wonderland of Changchun, where they can revel in ice skating and skiing. He pledged that Changchun would present an abundant ice and snow feast to guests from afar, featuring dazzling and dreamlike ice and snow attractions, a plethora of captivating special events, and considerate, warm support services.
