In August 2024, Applied Behavioral Health Practice (ABHP) opened its doors in San Diego, California, with a bold vision: to revolutionize how Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is used to support neurodivergent individuals. Led by Ryan Baker-Barrett, a Board Certified Behavior AnalystⓇ, entrepreneur, and ADHD advocate, ABHP is on a mission to expand ABA’s reach beyond its traditional applications.
“ABA has become synonymous with ‘autism therapy’, ” explains Ryan. “But its potential reach is far beyond autism. My goal is to innovate care for people with ADHD and show that behavior analysis can transform lives across the neurodivergent spectrum.”
Ryan’s approach is rare. Even though the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend behavioral therapy as a first-line treatment for ADHD, insurance companies have been slow to catch up. While ABA coverage for autism is widespread, ABA coverage for ADHD is scarce, leaving many families on long waiting lists or no access to effective, evidence-based care.
As one of the few behavior analysts in the country specializing in ADHD services, Ryan is forging a new path. ABHP offers individualized, tailored solutions to meet the unique needs of ADHD families. Together with his clients, they build life-changing skills and navigate the ADHD challenges with confidence.
His work also inspires a broader reach in the professional ABA community. “There’s so much untapped potential for people with ADHD to access ABA. All neurodivergent people deserve more access to the therapies that help them thrive.”
